Serving an administrative role as the assistant principal for Cumberland County Schools, District 7 Elementary, in Wade, North Carolina, Mr. Williams accepted his position in 2021 after more than a decade with the district. Responsible for the overall direction of the curriculum and policies set forth for the elementary school setting, Mr. Williams also leads the transportation coordination aspects for the school and manages budgetary policies, logistics, and various other routine functions.
Having joined Cumberland County Schools in 2010 as a teacher assistant in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Mr. Williams subsequently became a career technical education teacher from 2015 to 2021 at the 71st High School. He was also heavily involved with the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
Prior to his civic career, Mr. Williams spent 26 years in the military, beginning as a human relations generalist in the 18th Airborne Corps and subsequently as the director of human relations and senior human resource manager.
Civically, Mr. Williams is active as a member and past president of Kiwanis International and as a member of Disabled American Veterans. He has also coached numerous basketball and softball teams since 1986, including a local boys’ basketball team within the community for more than 10 years.
Highly educated, Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration and management from Campbell University since 1999, a Master of Business Administration in public administration from Trident University International since 2004, as well as a second Master of Education in executive leadership from North Carolina State University in 2016. Additionally, Mr. Williams garnered certification as an administrator and athletic coach.
Recognizing his outstanding contributions to his country, Mr. Williams received a Legion of Merit and two Bronze Stars for his combat experience. He was also honored to receive a Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Award from the U.S. Department of Defense.
Mr. Williams attributes his success to his personable and approachable personality. He also notes his ability to quickly grasp concepts and follow through with tasks. Looking toward the future, Mr. Williams aims to pursue a doctorate in a related field to further advance his career.
