FORT MITCHELL, AL, April 07, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Dr. Cynthia D. Borel, EdD, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. After a successful career in the military and subsequent roles with the U.S. Department of Defense, Dr. Borel established Borel Educational Consulting Services in Fort Mitchell, Alabama, in 2022. The purpose of her consulting firm is to provide a wide range of customized consulting services to individuals and organizations to enhance their educational programs. As an independent education consultant, Dr. Borel is responsible for identifying and helping clients reach their academic goals, which vary from military personnel and military units to students, educators, private companies, and educational institutions.
Dr. Borel notably served to master sergeant in the U.S. Army between 1980 and 2001. Upon retiring from the military, she began working for Troy University, through which she was responsible for managing an online learning program so soldiers could access educational programs from anywhere. It was also designed so they would not have to start over whenever they relocated from one geographical location to another. Additionally, Dr. Borel enjoyed a tenured career employed by the U.S. Department of Defense from 2006 to 2022 before retiring as a medical readiness officer.
Civically, Dr. Borel and her spouse supports several nonprofit charitable organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital and Valley Rescue. As a U.S. Army veteran, she is a member of the American Legion.
Dr. Borel authored her first book, “Self-Directed Learning: A Creative Experience,” in 2023, which provides an overview of self-directed learning (SDL) and its impact on adult education.
Dr. Borel received an Associate of Arts and a Bachelor of Science at the State University of New York, a Master of Science at Troy University, and a Doctor of Education in adult education at Auburn University. She also notably holds certification in data analytics from Cornell University and is pursuing a master’s degree in educational and instructional technology at Troy University. Dr. Borel aims to earn additional relative certifications to support her future career.
To remain aware of developments in the field, Dr. Borel is a member of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Association of University Women, and the American Association of Colleges and Universities.
In recognition of her service, Dr. Borel was decorated with a Meritorious Service Medal, a U.S. Army Achievement Medal, U.S. Army Service Ribbon, a Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, and an Overseas Servant Ribbon. She also received an ARCOM Second Award, a Good Conduct Award, and a U.S. Army Superior Unit Award.
